Hackney Council - Help us understand how Hackney's population is changing

Hackney Council has teamed up with researchers from University College London to better understand the changing population dynamics in our borough.

Recent estimates from the Office for National Statistics show that population growth is slower than expected and our community is ageing, with a rising share of residents aged 65 and over and a projected decrease in residents aged 24 and under.

To provide the best possible services - particularly in areas like housing, education, and public health - we need to better understand who is moving into and out of the borough, where they are going to and coming from and what is motivating their decision to move into or out.

By understanding why people move, we can better plan for the current and future needs of our residents.

The researchers are keen to hear insights and perspectives from community representatives and practitioners working in Hackney.
